Ohmu is Where the Heart Is

As one of the more complex Studio Ghibli films, I watched "Kaze no Tani no Nausicaä" many times and my understanding and relationship to each aspect evolved with every iteration. The story is beautifully layered, and I've become more and more attached to the Ohmu each time. The Ohmu are giant insects in this post-apocalyptic world. Though they look frightening, they're in fact gentle, curious and extremely compassionate. They have a precious exoskeleton that is stronger than any human-created weapon or material, and multiple blue eyes that are normally blue but turn red when enraged. Possessing a hive mind, Ohmu go berserk when another insect is harmed, and seek to trample and destroy those that harmed it. Here I drew an Ohmu in its home, the poisonous Sea of Corruption. It's a toxic forest that is uninhabitable as a result result of destructive, selfish human behaviour. Now a danger to the very humans that caused it, the Sea of Corruption is guarded by the Ohmu because in the very deepest layers, plants and insects work to re-create a new, magical world with clean air and flourishing life.
